The seven Chakras are the main energy centres of the human body. Derived from the Sanskrit term cakra meaning “wheel”, the chakras are believed to be perpetually spinning disks of energy that correspond with major organs and nerve endings that directly or indirectly affect our spiritual and mental wellbeing.
At Maha Mala, your one-stop destination for wholesale natural gemstone jewellery, our goal is not only to provide you with the best of authentic and ethically sourced spiritual jewellery but also to acquaint you with your inner, spiritual self.
In today’s lesson on spiritual awakening, we will discuss the Root Chakra, also known as Sahasrara.
The Crown Chakra: Sahasrara
The Sahasrara or Crown Chakra is the highest chakra, and is located at the very top of the head, but exists on a metaphysical level, beyond the physical form of an individual. The last to develop, the Crown Center is linked to every other chakra in our body and regulates and affects the functioning of every corresponding organ, as well as our brain and nervous system. Representing our most direct connection with our spiritual self and the divine energies all around us, the Sahasrara is the seat of enlightenment and dictates our life’s purpose.
Individuals with a blocked Sahasrara manifest this obstruction with their personalities and general outlook towards life, coming across as sceptical, narrow-minded, and stuck in their ways.
Associated with the colours Violet or White, and with the element of Divine Consciousness, the Crown represents our awareness of beauty, both with ourselves and without. Popularly represented in the form of a thousand-petalled lotus, indicating the infinite facets and attributes of an individual that are rooted in the primal singularity of universal divine consciousness, the Sahasrara is the seventh and most potent energy center.
According to ancient Yogic practice, all human life is modelled after the unknowable cosmos. The journey of the spirit, then, is to awaken the latent energy of the seven chakras – also known as the Kundalini, which lies coiled at the base of the spine – and unite her with the divine powers of the Crown Center, allowing for a shift from the individual consciousness to the universal, cosmic consciousness.
While very few people are fortunate enough to fully open their Crown Chakras and attain true enlightenment. Regular practice of Yogic Asanas that focus on a flow of energy to the brain, such as performing a headstand, coupled with intent-driven meditation with a Clear Quartz gemstone can be beneficial to those experiencing blockages in this chakra.
